O-dyssey.

(/ˈɒdəsi/ Greek: Ὀδύσσεια, Odýsseia)
noun.
•A major Greek poem attributed to Homer.

•A life-enriching journey and adventure.
•An intellectual and spiritual quest.

In Ancient Greek, the oikos means home, and hides in the root of modern words like ecosystem and ecology – the science of the home, the study of nature. As lovers of nature and art, we found relevance in the figure of Odysseus, a hero who spent his life trying to come home, losing himself along the way of unmeasured pride.

An Odyssey is not just a journey home, it’s a journey to the self, and a journey to our true home, Nature. So travel with us. Let us show you our home, and help you unleash your creativity as you get lost in the golden pools of light on the banks of the Zambezi, as you dine under the inky starry sky filled with African magic, as you breathe in the bush and let its musky smell enchant you.

The Odysseia Story

Odysseia is a philosophy, born from our love for Beauty, found in both nature and art, in moments and memories, in poetry and the curl of a leopard’s tail as she silently pads through the forest. Passionate about our planet, we make it our mission to (re)connect people with nature. We believe in thriving ecosystems, in bridging the gap between nature and culture, in inspiring stories and always supporting conservation. And so, we bring you Odysseia Explore, our specialist safari agency, and Odysseia Create, our creative consultancy.

“While the ship, as in a field four stallions drawing a chariot all break together at the stroke of the whiplash, and lifting high their feet lightly beat out their path, so the stern of this ship would lift and the creaming wave behind her boiled amain in the thunderous crash of the sea”  – Odysseus’s ship, given to him by Alkinoös of the Phaiakians, leaves on his voyage home – The Odyssey, Book XIV

East Africa & The Great Migration

Few places in the world stretch the imagination as wide as the incredible landscapes of Tanzania. Places of endless beauty, that wildlife filmmakers, movie stars and celebrated explorers have attempted to do justice in  documenting its untamed and endless wildernesses, often in vain. For few are able to fully describe the feeling when descending the crater rim of Ngorongoro, from its old story written in the rocks to its new story of abundant life along the crater floor. Few can properly render the feeling of traversing the ‘endless plains’ of the Serengeti, an indescribable vastness of life and chaos.

We use a small group of dedicated ground handlers and lodges that ensure the very best in authenticity and luxury is achieved. The itinerary can vary depending on what kind of lodging you prefer and the recommended outline would be a mix of Ngorongoro Crater, the Central Serengeti and the Northern Serengeti. However, this all depends on the time of year you wish to travel and where the Great Migration is at that time.

Minimum 8 nights – From $8900 per person sharing

Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti National Park

  • Arrival/Departure Country & City
    Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Central Serengeti
3 - 5 Nights in Luxury Canvas Tent or Lodge
  • Where the name 'Serengeti' comes from, it means 'endless plains' in the local Maa language and you can imagine why only when you are present in this vast grassland, dotted with charismatic mountains and wildlife-rich river systems.
  • One of the densest populations of lion, leopard and cheetah exist here. One is truly special is that they are often found upon the megalithic rocky outcrops that protrude from the flat grassland. A photographers paradise!
  • Northern Serengeti
3 - 5 Nights in Luxury Canvas Tent or Lodge
  • Here is where the iconic Mara River finds its way just north of the rollings hills and wildlife dense Lemai plains, characteristic of this region. Teeming with hippo and prehistoric crocodiles, it is also where the great herds will cross, depending on the time of year, a wildlife spectacle only believed when witnessed
  • Like the central parts, this area also hosts one of the most impressive populations of big cats and big herbivores alike.
