Odysseia Art Collection

Welcome to our Gallery! It's still under construction as we search for artists to feature, but we'll still tell you what it's about. As lovers of all things beautiful, and as big believers in collaboration, we want to feature painters, sculptors photographers - any artist whose art we love, and who support conservation one way or another with their work.

"Beauty has power. More than ever today, artists have a voice that can be used"

We see art – photography, painting, drawing, sculpting, poetry… –  as a powerful and enchanting way to raise awareness through creativity, one that can reconnect people with the world, and with themselves. This is particularly relevant for nature conservation, putting crucial topics like ecosystems, diversity, socio-ecological resilience and the intertwined interests of human and non-human stakeholders on the table.

So we’ve invited artists that we respect and love to be a part of the Odysseia Art Collection.

We only ask of them to donate to conservation as a token of their presence here whenever a piece from the collection is sold. We look forward to collaborating with a diverse range of passionate and talented souls, all brought together by the shared love of our planet and of creativity.

"reconnecting man and nature"

The curl of a leopard’s tail. Golden pools of light glittering through mystical forests. Immense landscapes cascading into an array of pastel colours at dawn. The symbols within nature are endless, each one a delicately strong thread of an intricate story – that of life. Being able to witness nature’s powerful tale of life is humbling – and I profoundly believe it is not a memory, nor an experience to selfishly treasure and hide. For beauty has such power and resonance, and if respected and loved, it is a concept that can  bridge the growing divide between culture and nature, reconnecting man and himself, reconnecting man and nature. Beauty is not merely linked to the aesthetic, is not confined to the physical superficial world we often attribute it to. Beauty is a timeless feeling, inspiration, guide, fuelling both love and creativity, desire and passion, fear and sometimes violence.

Art is perhaps one of Beauty’s greatest forms of expression. The expression of creativity, of passion – of the wonderful storytelling skills that humanity is blessed with. Because when Epimetheus created man, he may have left behind the claws and the teeth and the brute force given to larger, more ferocious animals, but he gave us creativity and curiosity, compassion and perspective.

“I would rather follow the plow as a thrall to another man, one with no land allotted to him and not much to live on, than be king over all the perished dead” – Achilles explains to Odysseus during his visit to the underworld – The Odyssey, Book XIV

“to be as rare as the moment itself”

To this day the sounds and smells, the wind and the feeling of dust upon my skin will always hold much dearer to me than the camera I hold or the photographs on it. Without these things, the world would be a listless and grim scape not fit for any being with a higher level of consciousness. I will say, however, that in many years of searching for a scene that might fit my frame as I dreamed it would, I realised that these moments are frightfully rare. Being present in such scenes is a gift enough, but being able to capture it is truly a humbling experience. I want the pieces to transport the viewer to a place of their dreams, introduce them to a fascinating character or make a bold or rebellious statement that would ‘stoke their own fire’. It became clear to me, in a short while, that this was no easy task, and after years and hundreds of thousands of clicks, I have left with but a few pieces that fit the purpose. With memories of the trials, the danger sometimes, the heartbreak, the sweat and blood dripped to acquire some of these pieces, I felt it only right to ensure they remained as rare and valuable as the moments they emerged from. Only three of each piece are available and are printed on the finest materials and shipped anywhere in the world to be framed and placed on a wall in need of beauty. These are collector’s items designed to last through the ages and, my values, my purpose and my unwithered determination to fight for a better world, are testament to their value.
